The Sales Burnout

The past days I’ve been attending special employee sales for the brand I work for. At the beginning it all seemed fun and I have to say as a task that goes with the turf of working in the fashion industry, not bad at all. However at a certain point I started feeling something I’d like to call “The Sales Burnout”. Below some psychiatric  symptoms:

Fictitious valuation of having a stretching budget / Underestimation of life priorities / Overestimation of clothes’ beauty / Misperception of products defects and flaws / Small shoe–foot pain inertia / Big shoe–ridiculous walking nonchalance / Misconception of tigh/large fitting / Tendinitis / Eye stress / Only for eyerwear people -> inability to keep opticals on top of your head / False taste intuition boosted by low price–high end brand dichotomy / Overexcitement and autoconviction / In worst cases, histeria

There are two options either you end up fed up, or you end up broke.
The doctor’s prescription —> Abstinence.

EDUN CHOI

Marni + Stella McCartney maybe equals Edun Choi, no offence.

The collection is absolutely worth watching. I loved the clothes because of their practicality.  Garments were comfortable, highly combinable and even if printed, simple and clean, giving an atypically feminine structure to women’s body, something in which Stella McCartney is queen of doing.

Pros, usage of excellent poplin. Cons, no dramatic innovations for what regards silk dresses.

Something strange: It was weird to me to find the collection actually coherent one look after the other, even though there’s a non indifferent variety of colors, prints, styles and flower details.

How to hold on to Summer
Last year around these dates I had still my summer vacations ahead. This time instead, all went very smooth, planned and amazing. This though makes August memories seem long gone. Here in Italy, pools are closing, rain is starting to poor every now and then and ballerinas have made their way back to girls closet’s. Moreover, online browsing has change direction from summer sales to smart fall finds.
But while sunny season continues to vanish, here some tips to hold on to Summer for as long as supermarkets, globalization and cold endurance level allow us to.
Eat Papaya, and basically all tropical food you can find in a good and juicy bio shop.
Wear Sandals if it doesn’t rain, but don’t exaggerate  no one likes cold purple toe-nails.
Keep on light-layering…and Do not wear a jacket.
Start coking warm salads, they should still look fresh and colorful just without the cold feeling on the teeth.
Avoid painting your nails in bordeaux, night blue or black…a brushstroke of nudes should still do at least until end of September.
Winning combo: White denim + Light sweater
Attend a wine fest, the idea of fair/festivity paired with a good red and lots of genuine food beats any hint of breeze.
Stop by the last dates of summer flea markets, then have  some fish by the sea. Bring a stole just in case ;)
And last but not least workout as if you were  to try a bikini for the first time in the season.

The Dome of Visions

Seems we’ve seen it all, from temporary love to temporary store to temporary presidents (since I’m currently based in Italy)…yet it was a first for me, to had the chance to contemplate the Dome of Visions, a temporary minimal and highly conceptual rounded building moving around the city of Copenhagen.

The structure, minded by Kristoffer Tejlgaard and Benny Jepsen is a music and dance performance house for both modern and classic performances. The polycarbonate eco-friendly construction blends with the turf in a splendidly harmonious way, literally outlining the new face of the city and of Danish design. The clear Dome, is the contemporary version of a Podium, where all arts can be represented, where people can meet, enjoy nature, landscape and re-think about time and space.

Real vs. Sham,

fact vs. phony?…Fashion journalism would say Authentic vs. Inspirational..truth is, there’s a big gap between what’s showed and what happens in real life. Yes, it is not new that distorted reality is a big issue, since it can deform the perception of how someone should make sense to their everyday. Nevertheless, how not to feel shocked by what looks better or at least esthetically more beautiful? However, can evidently premeditated perfection and deliberated beauty be as fun the real life mess? Can perfect be lived? Used? Or even useful? Or is it just a look but-not-touch, static immaculate state (cacophony intended) of objects and not people? Is it viably/believable or possible to “Photoshop” every aspect of one’s virtual life? And can it actually have an impact on our real life? Or do we only affect the perception of it on others but us?  Do we alter to believe or do we believe to alter? And of course I don’t mean  the bags pictures…Those are just a silly and very innocent example.

It may sound scary but I guess at some point we start believing all these “things”can be true, or are common to the world, which can be extremely dangerous…Yes, they can,  but what if they don’t? The healthiest thing would be maybe to start watching more National Geographic and less Facebook.

Note 1: None of the 3 bags are mine.
Note 2: And specially not the first one. Uff.

LLLBJ

No, is not arabic…is just it is a Little Late to post some pictures about the Milan exhibit of the adorable and timeless Little Black Jacket of foremost fashion brand Chanel…but better a Little Late than never. All pictures were taken by the Kaiser of Fashion, Lagerfeld and styled by sexy eye brows mamma Carine Roitfield. I have to say all images were simply a treat to the eye, unfortunately the one I liked the most (Geisha Anja Rubik) came a lil’ blurry…You can see the high resolution picture (not taken by me) bellow, together with my Kitcam improved selection of pictures I got the chance to shot.
